This two-to-three-day loop is a welcoming first step into multi-day travel, with meaningful climbs and backcountry atmosphere but regular bailout points.
01Route character
The riding alternates between shaded gravel and narrow paved connectors. Climbs are sustained rather than technical, and descents can be loose after dry weather. Plan conservative daily mileage if carrying a full camp load.

02Camping and food
The recommended overnight sits near a dependable creek in established forest camping. A small market at mile 54 handles basic resupply; arrive before closing and keep a backup meal in reserve.
03Navigation
Most junctions are signed, but tree cover makes phone reception inconsistent. Keep the GPX visible on an offline basemap and note the easily missed right turn at mile 71.4, immediately after the concrete bridge.
04Weather and timing
Afternoon storms develop quickly in summer. Start the major climbs early and avoid exposed ridges when thunder is nearby. Leaf season is beautiful but busy; reserve legal camping and expect additional vehicle traffic.
